Stephanie DeFrance Schmidt
Stephanie DeFrance Schmidt is an educational consultant located in Minnesota. She received her Master of Arts in English as a Second Language (now MATESOL) from Hamline University, where she now teaches. Stephanie facilitates teacher leadership training and language assessment training for teachers of multilinguals. Stephanie has 20 years of experience teaching Multilingual Learners of English grades K-12 with most of those teaching in Spanish and Hmong immersion programs. She was also a teacher leader, professional development facilitator, curriculum writer, and peer instructional coach. Stephanie has also conducted research investigating Science of Reading-based approaches for Multilingual Learners and has presented at state, national, and international conferences.
